We begged for bread, and Uncle Sam,
Cranked up the printers, like a jam.
Dollars dished out, sweet as candy,
Work? Why bother, life’s too handy.
The debt ballooned, prices soared,
But we didn’t care, we wanted more.
Next, we cried, “Help the homeless, please!”
They filled our parks, like swarms of bees.
Tents now line where children played,
Fields of green, now grim and frayed.
Give a man a fish, we said,
But now he dreams of daily hand.
Then we whispered, “Open wide,
Let them in, forget the tide.”
No checks, no names, no face, no plan,
Just more hands out, begging, man.
Corners filled with illegal lies,
The chaos grows, it multiplies.
They wanted more, we let them take,
And now our homes begin to break.
We got it all, we asked for this,
Safety gone, replaced by abyss.
I could blame you, but here’s the twist,
I kept quiet, clenched my fist.
You played the saint, the do-good fool,
But hell, I played along, too cool.
Now, the bill's here, can’t escape,
We pay the price for this mistake.
